Terms & conditions

These are the rules we actually run by, in plain English. The signed terms you agree to at registration are the governing version.

Safety and weight limit

Riding carries an inherent risk of injury. Helmets must be worn at all times when mounted, and closed-toe shoes at all times around the horses. The rider weight limit is 75kg — we reserve the right to decline a rider above it, for the safety of the horse as well as the rider. A parent or guardian stays on site for the whole of a child's lesson.

Missed lessons and make-ups

One make-up lesson per term, to be used within one month of the missed lesson unless management agrees otherwise. Tell us by 08:00 on the day for Monday to Thursday lessons, or by 20:00 the night before for Saturday lessons. A make-up is not guaranteed — it depends on a free slot — and may not be with your usual coach. Make-ups cannot be transferred to another rider or carried over to the next term. Private or group lessons ridden on your own horse can be rescheduled without the one-per-term limit, but must be completed within the current term.

Fees, invoices and term rollover

Invoices are emailed before each term begins and fees are due before the term starts. A rider’s lesson slot automatically continues into the following term until you tell us to cancel it.

Refunds

We do not generally give refunds. The exception is a non-temporary injury or long-term illness that prevents riding, with a current medical certificate — in that case a refund can be arranged, less a NZ$100 cancellation fee. Lessons missed without proper notice are not refunded, and holiday programmes are not refundable.

Weather

The arena is outdoors. If we judge conditions unsafe to ride we will let you know, and the cancelled lesson goes back into your balance.

Photographs

The registration form asks separately about four uses of photographs, none ticked by default and each revocable at any time. The privacy notice sets out the detail.

If anything here differs from the terms you signed, the signed terms govern. For what we collect, who can see it and how long we keep it, see the privacy notice.
