Jolene Zhou founded Southstar Equestrian in 2019. We are small on purpose — a private lesson is genuinely one-on-one, and the coach knows every rider and every horse by name.

Jolene founded Southstar Equestrian in 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Teacher Qualification Certificate, and is the mother of two riders.

Eddy Qi
Coach
Eddy has been riding since the age of nine and has worked with more than twenty horses and ponies. He competes in showjumping at 1.2 metres.

Chloe Qi
Assistant
Chloe grew up in New Zealand and started riding when the school opened in 2019. She helps run the yard and introduces newcomers to basic horsemanship. She is working towards becoming a dressage coach.
The yard
We are at 9 Bawden Road in Dairy Flat, a short drive from Auckland's North Shore. The arena is outdoors, so the weather matters — if a lesson has to be called off you'll get an email and the lesson goes back into your balance.
